Additional course materials provided by the Instructor: Documentaries concerning “New Information on the Building of the Great Pyramid,” “Discovery of King Tutankhamun’s Tomb (colorized),” Recent diverging and new Information, “The Mummy (1937 edition" and other possible documentaries on recent discoveries. Information via PowerPoint, handouts and other information as needed.
Course Description: We tend to think we know quite a bit about Ancient Egypt, but there are EgyptianWe tend to think we know quite a bit about Ancient Egypt, but there are Egyptian peoples, practices, contributions, inventions, and influences that include new and fascinating information. Who really built the pyramids and why? (No, it wasn’t aliens!). Who was the woman Pharaoh that ruled successfully for over 20 years disguised as a man? Why did Egyptians shave off their eyebrows, wear wigs, and became master weavers? Were they really obsessed with death? Who robbed the tombs? And did you know that the USA experienced “Egyptmania” during the discovery of King Tut’s tomb and the products of this mania are still with us today? These questions and many more will be answered throughout the course.
