Course Description:

The real woman behind the eyeliner was far more than a pretty face. Cleopatra was a multilingual ruler, a master strategist, and a successful diplomat. Born in 69 BCE, she rose from a royal childhood to become a global icon, as reimagined in I Am Cleopatra by Natasha Solomons. She was a mother — between Julius Caesar and Mark Antony, she bore four children. She was also a murderer — historians believe she may have played a role in the deaths of several siblings. This six-week class will combine discussions of the novel, examinations of historical sources, and interactive exercises designed for adults. Sign up to discover a woman even more layered than Elizabeth Taylor.
