“The chief task is to organize my affairs, so my loved ones don’t have to.”

This eight-week, discussion-based course helps participants organize personal affairs, so family, friends, or caregivers are not left guessing during serious illness, incapacity, or death. The focus is on clarity and practical organization, not legal or financial advice.

Using guided discussion, short facilitator presentations, real-life examples, and simple tools, participants will identify, gather, and organize key information such as financial accounts, passwords, key contacts, digital assets, important documents, personal belongings, and end-of-life wishes. We will also address common points of confusion for survivors and what steps can be taken now to simplify decisions in illness or incapacity, not just after death. Participants will consider what information should be shared, what can remain private, and how to communicate choices in a thoughtful, workable way.

Enrollment is limited to 24 to support meaningful discussion. No books are required, and no participant presentations are expected. Sharing personal experiences is welcomed, but entirely optional. Weekly assignments are brief and practical, aimed at building an organized, usable system step by step. In the final two weeks, the class will collaboratively develop a checklist and agenda of often-overlooked details that can significantly reduce stress for those left behind.
