Join me on Tuesday afternoons to discover more about our minds – how we make decisions and how we’re manipulated.

We’ll watch episodes from a four-part PBS series - “Hacking Your Mind” - during the first hour and then discuss the topics brought up in the episode during the second hour of class.

Episode 1: Living on Autopilot - All of us go through most of our lives on autopilot. Join this quest to find the autopilot's owner's manual.

Episode 2: Weapons of Influence - The advent of big data has given corporate marketers, social media companies and politicians the ability to hack your autopilot system in shocking new ways.

Episode 3: Us versus Them - Many of the divisions tearing our country apart arise from our autopilot biases against ‘them’. Politicians ‘hack’ those biases to gain power.

Episode 4: The Wings of Angels - The same scientists who revealed why our minds are so easy to hack have also made perhaps the most important discovery of the 21st century: how each us can make our own lives and those of our family, friends, and entire society work better.

I hope that you’ll join me for what promises to be an enlightening experience.
