Step into the hauntingly beautiful worlds of Kazuo Ishiguro, a Japanese-born British novelist. Ishiguro is a celebrated author and the recipient of major literary prizes, including the 2017 Nobel Prize for Literature. His thought-provoking books explore memory, morality, and artificial intelligence — all topics ripe for lively discussion. His writing is clean, measured and spare, and blends genres like historical fiction, science fiction and fantasy. We’ll spend the first class, April 2, examining Ishiguro’s life and what to expect from his books. We’ll discuss Klara and the Sun on April 16; Never Let Me Go on April 30; and The Buried Giant on May 14. The books are available in paperback and average 300 pages in length. Prepare for a few chills that will linger long after the last page is turned.
