One of the great Fred Astaire/ Ginger Rogers dance films that uplifted spirits during the Great Depression. Lucky Garnett (Astaire) is tricked into missing his wedding to Margaret (Betty Furness) and has to earn $25,000 to be allowed to marry her. He goes with Pop Gardetti (Victor Moore), the head of his dance ensemble, to New York where they run into Penny (Rogers), a dancing instructor. She and Lucky form a successful dance partnership, but the romance is blighted by his old attachment to Margaret, as well as her feelings for a band leader, Ricardo (Georges Metaxa). 103 min.
