Front Range Forum goes to the Movies

The Fort Collins Senior Center is the venue for our next movie playing on Wednesday, March 14th. Doors open at 1:30 pm, the movie starts at 2:00 pm. There will be free popcorn available. Following the movie, a facilitator-led discussion will allow viewers to participate in a dialogue on the film.

Written and directed by Tim Robbins, who also plays the lead role.  Bob Roberts is a rising star of the Republican Party.  On the occasion of his campaign for the upcoming Senatorial election in Pennsylvania, Roberts, young and charismatic, has a populist touch which he cultivates by playing folk songs at his political rallies.  His message is about social and moral conservatism, based on family values (the opposite of his upbringing by hippie parents).  He runs against an incumbent, liberal Democrat (Gore Vidal), and projects plainspoken honesty.  However, as the movie progresses, rumors about Bob’s funding from sources that are less wholesome than the image he promotes, come to the fore.  Events soon go haywire.  1 hr., 44 min.
