Front Range Forum goes to the Opera

The Twinberry Auditorium in the Senior Center is the venue for our filmed opera production playing on Wednesday, November 19th. Doors open at 1:30 pm, the opera starts at 2:00 pm.

Akhnaten

This fascinating piece is as much a pageant as an opera. It was written in 1983 by the American composer Phillip Glass. In addition to beautiful, melodic singing and gorgeous costumes, the opera features dance, pantomime, acrobatics and juggling. The story is based on the life of the Egyptian pharaoh Akhnaten, his queen Nefertiti and his mother Nye. It explores the classic conflict between good and evil, and between new thought and old ideas. And it is a tremendous amount of fun to watch. The 2019 Met production has marvelous performances by Anthony Roth Costanzo, J’Nai Bridges and Disella Larusdottir.
