Facilitator: Mac McNeill, mcneil0115@comcast.net, 970-631-2710, Dates: Thursdays, April 4 — May 30, 2024 Time: 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM Texts: None Presentations: None Location: Senior Center, Foxtail 2. Class Limit 18

This is a course that delves deep into the poetic and musical genius of Bob Dylan. Focusing exclusively on his songs and lyrics from the 1960s, we will listen to over thirty of his best works, from "Blowin' in the Wind" to "All Along the Watchtower" and we will analyze twenty of them as poems to determine if Dylan's contribution to literature is deserving of the Nobel Prize he received in 2016.

No books or presentations are required, just your active participation as we discuss songs that partly made us who we are today. In the first week, we will discuss how to approach songs as poetry and you will receive the lyrics to each of the songs we discuss.

Through close readings and listening sessions, we will gain insights into Dylan's artistry and his impact on society, the music, and the literature of the 20th century. Join us for eight weeks of engaging discussions and wonderful music in "Bob Dylan: A Poet’s Journey Through the 1960s."
