This will be a hands-on course with no lecturing. We will use a free site: FamilySearch.org. Learn how to set up an account, enter known family history, connect to existing genealogies, research and find new information. The library has 16 large monitor touch screen computers, students may also attend using their own laptops/tablets or smartphones. A FamilySearch Tree app is available for smartphones and tablets, it displays the same information and has essentially the same capabilities as the website. Most attendees will connect their own family to existing genealogies during the first or second session. We will be able to see how we are related to each other. Additional topics include: merging duplicate records; adding pictures; tagging individuals in pictures; changing portrait pictures; record hints; attaching sources; adding a source; data problems; online help. The library provides free access to premium (paid genealogical websites) including: Ancestry, Find My Past, Footnote, HeritageQuest, AmericanAncestors.org, World Vital Records, Godfrey Memorial Library and many other sites. Wiki page for the FamilySearch Center is found at: https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/ Fort_Collins_Colorado_FamilySearch_Center

The instructor has nearly 50 years’ experience as a genealogist, having started as a teenager. He has many years of experience in teaching genealogical classes, providing one-on-one instruction and serving as a librarian for genealogical libraries.
